I photographed 180 artists along the
U.S.- Mexico border
already.
In the last 8 years I have photographed 180 painters,
sculptors, performance artists, poets, gallery owners and curators
who live and work along the border in
Matamoros, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Juarez, Nogales, Mexicali,
Tecate, Tijuana,
as well as in San Diego, El Paso, McAllen and Brownsville.
I am planning to revisit selected artists whose work has the most
impact on their communities and produce in-depth stories about their
lives and their art.
New artists will also be part of my expanded LA FRONTERA project.
The new interviews, photographs and videos will be published on the
project’s website which will re-launch with a richer, updated and
interactive design….
My ultimate goal is to develop LA FRONTERA into an interactive
online community that will forge cultural connections along the entire
2000-miles long border.
( and to show this vibrant cultural region to a
presidential candidate who’d love to build another wall )
