Painter Julio Ruiz in his house and studio in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. He isn’t a man who likes to talk much, but he sure is an amazing painter who is well known around Baja California and beyond. I let the pictures tell his story.

Q: How does living on the border effect your work as an artist?

A: “I have not crossed the border in 20 years and I don’t feel like being influenced by the United States”.
