“As a Tijuana artist I’ve developed work that focuses on consumerism, obesity and identity. Through recycled junk food wrappers as new pictorial material, I make paintings and assemblages. As an artist who lives on the border, every product is reused, in my case are wrappers of junk food products.”

Q: What is the essence of your life as a border artist?

A: My essence of life as a frontier artist is that we are invaded and colonized by the United States, by junk food industries that are 100% american, they come to occupy our territory. We are very influenced by American culture, in terms of food, everything we want is fast and devour instantly. Unfortunately living on the border is that way. What I do with my work is show the consequences of it, like McDonalds, Starbucks, Burger King and other companies feed our identity, we are losing our Mexican identity day by day.
