Melo Nonsense and his murals in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Melo’s goal is to cover the entire block where he lives with murals; it used to be a very dangerous neighborhood not long ago. His work can also be seen all over Juarez.

Q: What is the essence of your life as a border artist?

A: Birthplace: Ciudad Juarez , Chihuahua. Year: 1984. Name: Abimael Garcia Villasenor . That’s what my birth certificate says, but Melo is graffiti , Melo is color, Melo is aerosol , Melo is mural . I can not remember when I started this, but I certainly have no regrets. Someone once told me that the best dreams are those we dream in full color. At twelve I just wanted to bring my dreams to those colorless walls that are abundant in my city. I wanted to eradicate the sad gray. That was how it began, I wanted to dress the city in my colors and my visions. As we grow as an artist and as a human being , I realized that I had to share my art with the community , not only to appreciate but to experience it. I want them to feel the emotion and the catharsis of a surface expressed in either wall or paper. In my personal opinion , I think that graffiti is a way of life and if you do it for a social good , then it is a most rewarding thing . Art and culture is there to succeed. I am Melo .

Cual es la esencia de tu vida como artista fronterizo?

Lugar de nacimiento: Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. Año: 1984. Nombre: Abimael Villaseñor Garcia. Eso es lo que dice mi acta de nacimiento, pero Melo es mi graffiti, Melo es mi gama, Melo es mi color, Melo es aerosol, Melo es Mural. Aun no recuerdo bien porque empecé en esto, pero lo que si estoy seguro es que no me arrepiento. Alguien me dijo alguna vez que los mejores sueños son los que se sueñan a todo color. A los doce años solo quería sacar mis sueños a esos muros incoloros que abundaban en mi ciudad. Quería erradicar ese triste gris. Así fue como empezó, quería que la ciudad vistiera mis colores y mis visiones. Al ir creciendo como artista y como ser humano, me di cuenta que este arte tenía que compartirlo a la comunidad, no para que lo apreciaran solamente si no para que lo experimentaran. Quiero ellos sientan la emoción y el catarsis de expresarse en alguna superficie, ya sea muro o papel. En mi muy opinión personal, creo que el graffiti es una forma de vida y si lo haces para un bien social, entonces no hay cosa más gratificante. Arte y cultura para salir adelante. Yo soy Melo.
